Climate Clarity: Let’s debunk the myths
This session aims to break down barriers such as misconceptions and stereotypes that often surround climate action and holds us back from acting upon existing...
We are in the most important decade for climate action in history. The science is clear: every tenth of a degree matters and every ton of CO2 matters. What we do now will shape what lies ahead of us, but we still have it in our hands to assemble a better future.
Ingka Group hosted the Action Speaks Summit in collaboration with Project Drawdown and TIME CO2 at Climate Week 2023 in September in New York, using hope and optimism to inspire more impactful climate action. Grounded in the scientific reality of climate change, we welcomed leaders across business and civic society and the many people to explore a positive vision for the future and an exhibition of the actions that will help us create it.
How we eat, move, make, power and grow today and in the future has a significant impact on the health of our planet. The Action Speaks Summit exhibition centred on these five key areas and on solutions scientifically proven by Project Drawdown to have a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. From addressing food waste to enhancing energy efficiency, protecting, and restoring ecosystems and more.
With every solution we showcased tangible actions taken by over 30 exhibiting companies and organisations, across a wide range of industries and sectors, available today and creating a positive impact for people and planet by reinventing how we eat, move, make, power, and grow. From reducing operational food waste to enabling sustainable mobility, sustainable steelmaking and more, the exhibition featured products and services from:
Winnow · Revo foods · Too Good to Go · Terviva · Eon · Hitachi Energy · Sunpower · Seneca Solar · Minesto · Harley Davidson · Cake · Vässla · Allbirds · Retour Matras · SSAB · Volvo Cars · Notpla · AMP Robotics · Fairphone · Tradewater · Rheaply · Restor · IKEA · Afforestt · AFR100 · Mast Reforestation · VGrid · Conservation International
Throughout Climate Week, the summit also hosted 22 dialogues that brought together leaders across business and civil society to explore solutions and actions that can accelerate climate action even further. The dialogues invited businesses big and small, governments, organisations, and activists to come together and spark the radical collaboration needed to accelerate climate action.
”I loved the exhibition. I was very happy in the way it was organised, in what I like to call life themes” – Mark Curtis – Head of Innovation & Thought Leadership at Accenture Song.
“So much of climate change is doom and gloom but coming into this space you are going to feel hopeful and better about our future.” – Todd Reubold, Director at Project Drawdown.
“I am happy that I came mostly to speak but 90% to learn from others and I am inspired by the incredible work here” – Gibson Kawago, Founder and Chief Technical Officer of WAGA.
”It’s so rare you can see, touch and experience so many innovations in one place across so many industries.“ – Olivia Nelson, Global PR at Allbirds.

Companies and stakeholders agree that climate solutions should not be considered as proprietary information and should be shared openly and widely to turn a corner on climate change and create a better planet for the many people. Open-source innovation holds power to lift entire industries: it is good business to be a good business.
Climate action needs to connect emotionally and make it personal to ensure we understand we all have a role to play and a responsibility. We cannot look away. This is not about the state of our planet in 2050, it is about impacting the quality of our individual lives right now.
A fair transition of the climate movement is crucial so that vulnerable and marginalised communities are not left behind. Collectively, we can create both environmental sustainability and social justice in our response to climate change.
